Visa Fees
Non-immigrant Visas:
Most non-immigrant visa applicants must pay a non-refundable Machine Readable Visa (MRV) application fee of $100 or 3600 in Thai baht. Effective January 1, 2008, the MRV fee will increase to $131. At the same time, the exchange rate will decrease to 34 baht per dollar, making the new MRV fee to be 4454 baht. Any visa applicants who have paid the prior $100 application fee before January 1, 2008 will be processed only if they are scheduled and appear for a visa interview before January 31. Applicants who paid the prior $100 application fee and appear for a visa interview after January 31, 2008 must pay the difference $31 before they will be interviewed. The only exceptions are people instructed not to pay by a consular officer. The fee can be paid at one of 246 designated post offices nationwide. You cannot pay the visa application fee at the Consular Section. Save your fee receipt and bring it with you on the day of your interview. For some types of visas, an extra issuance fee will need to be paid at the consular section. For more information about the types of visas that require an extra fee, please review the Visa Reciprocity Table for Thailand.
Immigrant Visas:
Each intending immigrant, regardless of age, requires a separate visa and must pay US$380 to cover the application and processing fees. Effective January 1, 2008, the immigrant visa fee will be increased to $400.
Applicants for non-immigrant visas (K and V visas), on the other hand, pay a US$100 visa processing fee. Effective January 1, 2008, the MRV fee will increase to $131. At the same time, the exchange rate will decreased to 34 baht per dollar, making the new MRV fee to be 4454 baht. These fees are not refundable. The fees for immigrant visas may be paid either in dollars or Thai baht in cash or credit card at the Embassy’s Consular Cashier if these have not been paid to the National Visa Center.
The visa processing fee for a non-immigrant (K or V) visa is paid in advance at designated branches of the Thai Post Office. All fees may be in Thai baht equivalent to the prevailing exchange rate determined by the Embassy.
