The United States and Apec: Partnering for Prosperity - November 12, 2009

The 20th anniversary meeting of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) forum in Singapore in November represents the beginning of a two-year period in which the United States will seek to enhance economic and trade relations with the Asia-Pacific region.  In November, President Obama will make his first trip to Asia since taking office and will attend his first APEC leaders meeting. While at the APEC forum, Obama will hold his first meeting with the leaders of the 10 Southeast Asian nations that comprise the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN).
