In order to serve you better, the American Citizen Services section has introduced an appointment system for all non-emergency services to include notarials, passport services, and Consular Reports of Birth Abroad. We will continue to provide emergency services on an as needed basis.
Appointments can be made online by clicking here. PLEASE NOTE: We will no longer be able to book appointments over the phone. You must use the online system to schedule an appointment with American Citizen Services.
The purpose of the appointment system is to cut wait times for services and allow us to provide you with better service as demand for our services continues to grow. When you arrive at our waiting room, there is no need to take a number, just check-in at Window A and give our staff a copy of your appointment number. As we transition to the new appointment system, we will continue to accept walk-ins, but will give priority to those who made appointments online.

Americans traveling abroad should regularly monitor the U.S. Embassy’s website http://bangkok.usembassy.gov/ and the U.S. Department of State's travel website at http://www.travel.state.gov/, where the current Worldwide Caution, Travel Warnings, and Travel Alerts can be found. The U.S. Embassy also encourages U.S. citizens to review to "A Safe Trip Abroad," found at http://travel.state.gov/travel/tips/safety/safety_1747.html , which includes valuable security information for those both living and traveling abroad. In addition to information on the Internet, travelers may obtain up-to-date information on security conditions by calling 1-888-407-4747 toll-free in the U.S. and Canada, or outside the U.S. and Canada on a regular toll line at 1-202-501-4444.
Citizens living and residing in Thailand are advised to register their presence in the country through the U.S. Department of State's automated online registration system, https://travelregistration.state.gov/. U.S. citizens may also contact the Consular Section at the U.S. Embassy via e-mail acsbkk@state.gov or by calling (66) (2) 205-4049. Hours of Operation
The American Citizen Services unit is open to the public Monday through Friday from 7:30 a.m. - 11:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. - 2:00 p.m., except Thai and American holidays. (In addition, the consular section is closed to the public on the last Friday of every month.) Please bring your passport or other identification. Safety for American Citizens
The Department of State shares information on security threats to U.S. citizens through its country-specific information and travel warnings, available on the Internet at http://travel.state.gov/. Security at the Consular Section
Embassy security procedures require that all visitors submit to a security inspection. No luggage, electronic or photographic equipment is permitted in our waiting room or on other Embassy premises. You may check small electronic items at the Embassy gate.
Registering your presence in Thailand with the Embassy
If you're going to be in Thailand for an extended period of time, please register with us. Registration enables us to locate you in case of a family emergency, and helps keep us better informed of the number and location of American citizens in the event of a large-scale emergency. We are required by law to keep any information you give us completely confidential, and will release it only when authorized by you to do so.
