Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton made herfirst visit toAsia in July 2009, making an official stop inThailand from July 21 -23.
Secretary Clinton visited Bangkok on July 21-22, 2009 and Phuket on July 22-23, 2009. While in Phuket, Secretary Clinton led the U.S. delegation to the ASEAN Post-Ministerial Conference and ASEAN Regional Forum.
Prior to her trip to Phuket, Secretary Clinton was in Bangkok where she met with Prime Minister Abhisit Vejjajiva and Foreign Minister Kasit Piromya to underscore the importance of our alliance and our bilateral relationship, as well asto share perspectives on common interests in the region.
