U.S. Assistance in Response to Humanitarian Disaster in Burma Caused by Cyclone Nargis

The government and people of the United States offer their deepest condolences to those who lost loved ones in Tropical Cyclone Nargis and to the Burmese people, who continue to suffer in the aftermath of the storm.  The United States government has provided more than US$37.8 million in humanitarian assistance to the people of Burma to date. 

USAID has provided more than US$28.3 million in assistance, including commodities and monetary assistance to NGOs and UN organizations working in the affected areas.  In addition, the Department of Defense has provided approximately US$9.5 million in assistance.
