U.S. Government to Fund Anti-Trafficking in Persons Programs
Project Proposals Due January 21, 2009

The U.S. Department of States Office to Monitor and Combat Trafficking in Persons (TIP) is now accepting project proposals from nongovernmental organizations, public international organizations, and universities that will address and assist with identified TIP issues in Thailand and the region.

Organizations working on anti-human trafficking initiatives are invited to submit project proposals for funding consideration by the U.S. Government.  The U.S. Department of State encourages proposals that target the specific recommendations listed in the Thailand country narrative of the 2008 Trafficking in Persons (TIP) Report.

Proposals are due no later than January 21, 2009.  Please click here for details on the proposal format and submission guidelines.

The battle against human trafficking is a high priority for the U.S. Government and the American people.  Assistance from the American people contributed more than US$79 million to support anti-trafficking activities around the world last year.  Over US$500,000 of that support went to activities in Thailand, including media campaigns geared toward raising awareness about trafficking; facilities that give victims shelter, counseling, and educational opportunities; and training for officials involved in counter-trafficking operations in order to improve victim assistance and increase criminal prosecutions.

In close cooperation with our partners in Thailand, the U.S. Government will continue to be a strong and dedicated partner in combating trafficking in persons.
