“An Evening of American Classical Music with Trio Chicago & Friends”
The Embassy of the United States of America proudly presents “An Evening of American Classical Music with Trio Chicago & Friends”. The band will offer free concerts in Bangkok, Chiang Rai, and Chiang Mai. Interested American music lovers should contact local venues for ticket availability.
Trio Chicago & Friends is an American music ensemble praised for its stylistic versatility in concerts. The trio tours annually around the world as cultural ambassadors. The concerts will feature American music by composers such as Gershwin, Ellington, Bernstein, Copland, Pat Matheny, Cole Porter and Irving Berlin.
Trio Chicago & Friends consists of: violinist Elliott Golub, one of Chicago's most distinguished musicians, concertmaster of Chicago's Music of the Baroque from 1972 to 2006; viola player and violinist Marlou Johnston, concertmaster and soloist with the Kankakee (Illinois) Symphony Orchestra since 1982; pianist Kay Kim, lecturer in the Collaborative Piano Department at Northwestern University and faculty member of the Music Institute of Chicago; flutist Laura Hamm, participant in numerous music festivals throughout the world; and Soprano Alyssa Bennett, three-time recipient of the State of Iowa Outstanding Performers Award.
The free concerts will be performed at the following venues:
