Remarks by US Ambassador Ralph L. Boyce
Signing Ceremony
Thailand Tsunami Victim Identification Center
(As prepared for delivery)

It brings me great pleasure to be able come to Phuket today to sign this one and one half million dollar agreement for the Thailand Tsunami Victim Identification Center (TTVI) on behalf of the United States Government. Law enforcement authorities and disaster victim identification experts from Thailand and around the world assembled in Thailand over ten months ago to begin the grisly task of identifying the thousands of Thai and foreign victims of the deadly tsunami of December 26, 2004. From the beginning, the TTVI had one simple and worthy goal – to identify each and every victim of the horrible waves so that the families of the dead may find closure. The TTVI remains committed to this goal, and I hope this agreement will allow their admirable work to be seen through to the end.
