Medical Emergencies
In cases of medical emergency, you can contact us directly or call 202-647-5225 (OCS) in Washington, D.C. American Citizen Services is open from 7:30 AM to noon and from 1:00 PM until 4:00 PM local time. After hours, an Embassy duty officer can receive calls through the Embassy operator and assist you. To contact the duty officer, dial 02-205-4000 in Thailand or 011-66-2-205-4000 from the United State. The OCS office is open from 8:00 AM until 10:00 PM weekdays and 9:00 AM until 3:00 PM Saturday, Eastern Standard Time.
Medical treatment is generally adequate in Thailand’s urban areas. In Bangkok, Chiang Mai, and Pattaya, good facilities exist for routine, long-term, and emergency health care. Basic medical care is available in rural areas, but English-speaking providers are rare. Below are links to information on several common topics:
