VOA Southeast Asia News Bureau
The VOA Southeast Asia News Bureau is based in Bangkok and is responsible for coverage of news events in Burma, Brunei, Cambodia, Laos, the Philippines, Thailand, and Vietnam. The chief correspondent serves as the bureau chief and is supported by four locally-engaged staff.
The bureau is also home to the VOA Budget and Finance Office for South and East Asia, which is under the bureau chief's supervision. The office processes hundreds of payments each month for contractor journalists and other vendors across the region. It also oversees the budget and finance operations of VOA’s bureaus in Beijing, Hong Kong, Jakarta, Seoul, New Delhi, and Islamabad.
In addition to the permanent staff, the VOA bureau here is host to rotating Burmese service correspondent, a freelance journalist on contract with VOA, and a part-time contract television cameraman and producer.
