Embassy Speaker Program Scores a Touchdown!
On September 10, Deputy Political Chief Eric Kneedler visited the Chaopraya Wittayakom School in Bangkok to talk about sports in America. More than 100 eager secondary school students tried to attend the presentation, but the room was only large enough for 50. Chaopraya students have a very strong interest in sports, and especially in American football. The school has its own flag football team which won the NFL Flag Football championship in Germany in 2006.
The students in attendance—made up of athletes, those planning to study in the USA, and those who wanted to practice their English—enjoyed video clips of "NFL Highlights and Hits" that Khun Eric had prepared. The students also practiced their English skills in Q&A and in answering trivia questions. The students loved the presentation and the asked that Khun Eric return again. (Next time he'll need a bigger room!)
