The Art of Public Diplomacy
On October 1, 2009, Cultural Attaché J.P. Schutte spoke about the practice of public diplomacy with around 60 students of the Faculty of Communication Arts at Chulalongkorn University in Bangkok. The speaker and the students exchanged ideas on the challenge of reaching audiences in the face of rapidly changing technology and information overload, as well as discussed the importance of person-to-person contact in countering misinformation and dispelling stereotypes.
The students showed a strong interest in the United States, and each received materials explaining how to use EducationUSA resources and the Embassy Information Resource Center to learn more about the United States.
