Ambassador Visits Khon Kaen and Udon Thani
Ambassador Eric G. John visited eastern Thailand on November 25 and 26, and met with the governors of Udon Thani and Khon Kaen while in their respective provinces. It was the Ambassador’s first opportunity to visit Isan and to learn more about the people and culture of Thailand’s eastern corner. While in Khon Kaen, Ambassador John visited Srinagarind Hospital to watch John Domont, visiting Thailand on a the State Department’s American Artists Abroad program, use art therapy to enrich the lives of several young patients. Later he visited the Khon Kaen Demonstration School where he discussed the recent U.S. presidential elections. Ambassador John was very impressed by not only the students’ command of English but by the depth of their questions.
Ambassador John finished his trip to Khon Kaen by visiting a Coca Cola bottling plant to learn more about their water saving and water efficiency programs. “This is one of the most impressive corporate social responsibility (CSR) projects that we have seen implemented in Thailand,” said Ambassador John.
