The Media and Cultural Section invited the “Livingston Duo” to Thailand from January 14 - 19, 2008, to help kick off a year-long celebration of the 175th anniversary of Thai – U.S. relations. The father and son duo from Austin, Texas, held three workshops on progressive Texas country music with undergraduate students at Rangsit University, Khon Kaen University and Mahasarakham Rajabhat University. They showed students techniques used in country music, and discussed the diverse influences on American country music, including from Ireland and Mexico. The Duo also performed a concert at U.S. Ambassador Eric G. John's residence for an audience of more than 200 guests the evening of January 17. The Ambassador's son, Adam, jammed with the duo on stage. On their last day, the Duo went to Ubon Ratchathani, where they performed at an outdoor concert at Channel 11 Ubon Ratchathani, which was taped for broadcast to nine provinces of the lower northeastern region. In the true spirit of international friendship through music, Bob and Tucker Livingston invited local singers/musicians to jam with them during their workshops and performances. The audience was delighted to see American and Thai artists sharing the same stage and playing beautiful music together.
