American Writer Paul Theroux Visits Thailand

Paul Theroux, the acclaimed American novelists, whose works include The Great Railway Bazaar and The Mosquito Coast, came to speak to Thai audiences February 25 - 27 at the invitation of the U. S. Embassy.  He spoke to students and academics at Chiang Mai University, Srinakarinwirot University and Thammasat University about how he became a writer and talked about his favorite American authors, like Mark Twain.  Mr. Theroux also attended a lunch hosted by Ambassador and Mrs. John and discussed the many changes that have come to Thailand since he first visited Thailand over 34 years ago.  Lunch guests included several Thai literary figures, including Khun Tew Bunnag, Khun Prabda Yoon, and Khun Somtow Papinian Sucharitkul.
