NEW on the U.S. Embassy Website! The Refugee and Migration Affairs Office (RMA)
The Refugee and Migration Affairs Office (RMA) at Embassy Bangkok oversees issues surrounding refugees, internally displaced persons (IDPs) and migrants in the East Asia and Southeast Asia regions. RMA’s primary tasks are to provide assistance to refugees and facilitate their resettlement to the U.S. The office also coordinates protection advocacy for refugees and vulnerable people with UNHCR and regional U.S. Embassies. In addition, RMA provides funds to support projects in various sectors including health, gender-based violence and water sanitation, and currently funds assistance programs in Thailand, Malaysia, Burma, and Bangladesh totaling US$32 million.
