College Students from Ubon Get to Know U.S. Embassy

Fifty Ubon Ratchathani University juniors, majoring in English in the Faculty of Liberal Arts, visited the U.S. Embassy in Bangkok on October 30 to learn more about the Embassy and its programs. Hosted by the Regional English Language Office and the Public Affairs Section, students heard from the PAO, CAO, IO, IRC Director, IRO, and RELO about Public Diplomacy efforts in Thailand and the region. In addition to PD, the Consular Section was also represented, and Lisa Buzenas gave a very interesting presentation on visas and the summer work/travel program. Students listened to more than three hours of presentations in English and came away with a greater knowledge of how a U.S. Embassy operates, while also getting an opportunity to communicate in English with native speakers and other Thais.
