Warden Message: Drill on 8/21/09—Tsunami Warning and Evacuation Exercise - August 20, 2009

This warden message alerts U.S. citizens that on Friday, August 21, 2009, between 9:00 am to 12:00 noon, there will be a full-scale tsunami warning and evacuation exercise in the provinces of Phuket, Phang-Nga, Krabi, Ranong, Trang, and Satun.  Note: this is only a drill.  Warning tower alarms will go off in all participating areas.  These exercises will be jointly conducted by the Provincial Disaster Prevention and Mitigation Office of the Ministry of Interior, the Provincial Office and the Municipality Office.  At the national level, this project falls under the National Disaster Warning Center of Ministry of Information and Communication Technology (ICT).  If you have any questions about this exercise, you may contact ICT at 02-141-7063 or the local tourist police at 1155.
